QUADRIVIUM ACADEMY
Quadrivium Academy is an idea for a Medieval and Renaissance themed college where one can get a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Associate of Arts Degree featuring a general education curriculum with a strong combination of World History and Global Studies, Mathematics or Computer Science, and a choice of Art or Music or Literature or Environmental Science. (In Medieval times, the Quadrivium was the study of the Mathematical Sciences - algebra, geometry, astronomy, and music. This college requires at least four courses in mathematics, computer science, and/or physics.) Every fall features the September Term Multicultural Medieval Festival attended by first and second year students, in which the Medieval Period is looked at as a worldwide phenomenon and students try different things based upon interest. In the September term students take 3 to 5 units in Arts, Performing Arts, Literature, Sciences, Leadership, and Physical Education and Health during each such festival. This festival is optional to most upperclassmen. Bachelor degree candidates take at least one additional course in the period of time of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
There are Bachelor of Arts (Science) degrees in Applied Computer Science, Applied Physics, Computer Mathematics, English, Environmental Studies, Geography, Health Promotion and Fitness, Mathematics, Middle Ages and Renaissance Studies, Performing Arts, Social Science, and Visual Art and Graphic Design. Finally, students may choose to be certified in Secondary Education or choose Elementary Education as a second major.
